GANG @ the North Star Bar, Philadelphia (3/4/09)

I LOVE this band. Seriously, this is the most awesome band from here to Pluto. If you don’t know who I’m talking about, fuck it just listen this is G-A-N-G. I was first introduced to GANG when they played a short set at last year’s Philly Sound Clash at the World Cafe Live… they were an unexpected highlight among a mostly sucky lackluster lineup (see my photos from that show here). More than a year later, I was finally catching them play a full set of booty shaking goodness.

Their combination of sci-fi musical styling and sweet-ass dance moves makes them pretty much my favorite live act out there. It’s not ALL just about their live performance, though… I love the hell out of their EP, “Guess What You’ll Find” (you can buy it here). My 6 and 1/2 year old daughter loves it too, but I need to intermittently mute the volume during a few tracks due to a couple f-bombs thrown in here and there. You can also download their latest tracks (Earthquake It and Remind Me Sir / Get Out Of My Face) on iTunes… or pick them up at one of their shows for free. I swear, one of these days I’m gonna get them to play at my birthday party.

I must’ve forgotten what it was like to shoot in a club with semi-decent lighting. I actually ended up overexposing my rolls by shooting at f/1.4 and 1/30th… I also planned on a two-stop push (TRI-X 400 @1600), which turned out being overkill.
